A couple of days ago I had a remarkable encounter. I (Santa) was sitting in my big chair at Lakeline mall when I noticed a young woman who obviously had “special needs” and her helper standing outside the set. I went over to her and was introduced. I was told that she was deaf and nearly blind.
I signed, I am Santa, to her. She reached up and felt my face and hat then took my hand and pulled it close to her face. She found the edge of my glove and was pulling at it. So I removed the glove so that she could see my hand. She then once more examined my face. After slightly pulling on my beard (yes it’s real), she signed that I needed to cut it. I laughed and signed, I love you and merry Christmas.
